The rating scale runs from 1 (highest) to 5 (lowest). Here&#8217;s how the numbers fell out:<\/p>\n<p>Average: 2.55<\/p>\n<p>Percentiles<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 25th between 1.9 (22nd) and 2.0 (30th)<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 50th between 2.3 (47th) &amp; 2.4 (55th)<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 75th about 2.9<\/p>\n<p>The distribution (with a normal reference curve) looks like this:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-29\" title=\"Distribution of 2010 US News Peer Asessments\" src=\"http:\/\/uberlaw.net\/LawNumbers\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/2010.PeerAsessments11.jpg\" alt=\"Distribution of 2010 US News Peer Asessments\" width=\"441\" height=\"355\" srcset=\"https:\/\/uberlaw.net\/LawNumbers\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/2010.PeerAsessments11.jpg 639w, https:\/\/uberlaw.net\/LawNumbers\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/2010.PeerAsessments11-300x241.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 441px) 100vw, 441px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Looking at the actual scores, the distribution is decidedly non-normal.\u00a0 Of particular interest\u00a0are the &#8220;fat tails&#8221;&#8211;the distributions\u00a0of the top and bottom 25 percent, which\u00a0are much larger than would be expected with a normal distribution.\u00a0 The top 75% of law schools have peer assessments\u00a0have a\u00a0range of 1.5 points (1.4 to 1.9), while the for bottom 25%, peer assessments have a slightly larger range, 1.7 points (from 3.1 to 4.8).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Earlier this year, Paul Caron listed the peer assessment scores from the 2010 US News law school rankings.
